Numbers from TideCheck, OpenWeatherMap, and the Carrollton gauge. Catch from Steven this morning. No invented limits or a boat story we do not have.
Always check LDWF regulations before you keep fish.
What they caught
- Lafitte / Barataria: reds. Some bass. Lots of catfish. No speck report for Lafitte.
- Venice: reds and specks. Some bass. Lots of catfish.
That is the whole list. If it is not on there, it did not make the report.
Lafitte Fishing Report — Barataria Waterway
Tide barely moved. Soft rise then fall. High 7:42 a.m. at 0.5 ft, low 7:32 p.m. at 0.4 ft. That is a tiny range, so you fish the little bit of moving water you can find, not a ripping current.
Solunar 3 of 5. Prime window is the daylight major, 3:31 - 5:31 p.m.
This afternoon: light rain, SE around 9-10 mph, mid-80s. Grey marsh, not a pretty day.
The bite we actually have is reds. Some bass in there too, and lots of catfish. Specks are not confirmed on Lafitte today, so I am not putting them on this card.
Work the drains and points on whatever push you get. Slow it down. Slack water is dead water on a 0.1-foot swing.
Venice Fishing Report — Mississippi River Delta
Long steady fall. High 1:55 a.m., low 2:12 p.m. Carrollton (NORL1) about 4.8-5.0 ft this morning, forecast near 5.0. Well under 8 ft, so the interior should still be green water.
Solunar 3 of 5. Prime window 3:27 - 5:27 p.m.
This afternoon: light rain, SE around 6-7 mph, mid-80s.
The bite: reds and specks, some bass, lots of catfish.
Fish the cane edges and the drains on the fall. Interior ponds while that river stays under 8. Get off the open water if the cells build.
Venice vs. Lafitte today
Both sides got rain and a 3-out-of-5 solunar. Lafitte is a tiny tide and a reds day. Venice has the falling water, green interior, and the mixed reds-and-specks bag. If you want specks, point the truck to Venice. If you want to stay closer to town and pick at reds, Lafitte.
Keep your lines tight.
